What Is Cambodian Food?

Cambodian food is rich in varieties and flavors that are different from its neighboring countries’ cuisines. The dishes reflect Cambodia`s abundance of beautiful nature. Rivers, lakes, mountains, and the ocean provide all kinds of fish, animals, insects, and vegetables. To fully understand and appreciate Khmer cuisine, it's important to become familiar with the various raw ingredients in their natural state, to study, and practice traditional Khmer methods of food preparation. Together, we will cook Amok, a popular Cambodian dish! Choose between vegetables (can be vegetarian/vegan), fish, or chicken.

Who we are

Phnom Penh Spice was founded by a brother and a sister who grew up in Cambodia’s countryside. Getting up at 4 AM every morning to help their mother sell porridge and noodles at the market, food became an important part of Kimlay’s and Sreng’s life from an early age. Later, they both moved to Phnom Penh to study. Additionally to her great cooking skills, Kimlay majored in Tourism, worked at Rosewood Hotel, and an airline company. Sreng is a licensed tour guide and works for a local NGO. Now, the siblings are keen to share the Cambodian taste with you, and to provide knowledge about the Khmer culture and food!

Where we are?

The class will take place in a small hidden greenery, it is in Steung Meanchey, go through small street, make it disconnect from the noisy city, it is a open kitchen that could cook with Khmer traditional stow by using charcoal.
